Rosey Overstreet, Licensed Massage Therapist

       Hello, I am Rosey Overstreet.  I would love to be your massage therapist.  

      I have given massages since a very sweet mentor taught me how to massage under and around the scapulas when I was a teenager. I have been fascinated with bodywork and body structure ever since.  My friends would often sit on the floor in front of me and start rolling their neck or shoulders, hoping that I would take the hint and give them a backrub. I often started rubbing without even realizing what I was doing.  One friend said it was my form of doodling. 

      I used my limited knowledge and intuition and was always encouraged when people told me how good my massages felt.  I never thought, however, that I would become a professional massage therapist until my daughter decided to become a massage therapist.  I wanted her to study at a school near where I was living at the time, so I took her to an open house at Cumberland Institute in Brentwood, Tennessee.  My life changed.  I loved the teachers and the atmosphere at the school.  I was fascinated by the subject matter.  My daughter decided to study massage at another very good school and is now a very talented massage therapist in Birmingham and Cullman, Alabama.  I am very thankful that I took her to that open house because it was the beginning of a journey that has enriched my life in many, many ways. 

      I am now a proud graduate of Cumberland Institute of Holistic Therapies.  Throughout my training at Cumberland Institute, I was encouraged to learn about myself as I learned about massage therapy.  There, I developed a firm foundation of knowledge of the human body; ethical and professional behavior as they apply to massage therapy; a full toolbox of massage therapy techniques; and the courage to use all these to help my clients realize increased wellness. 

     I offer massage therapy that meets the specific needs of each client.  With input from my clients, I customize each massage using several different massage therapy techniques and modalities.  Among the modalities used are Swedish, Deep Tissue, CranioSacral, Acupressure, Lymphatic Drainage, Reflexology, Sports, Prenatal, Oncology, Hot Stone and more.

     In October of 2013 I became a Certified ACE Massage Cupping™ Practitioner (CAMCP) studying under Anita Shannon, the Director of Advanced Continuing Education (ACE). http://massagecupping.com
